Yin Yoga Workshop for Hips & Shoulders

ABOUT

Are your hips and shoulders in need of some extra love? If yes, then this workshop is for YOU! This workshop will offer students a relaxing yin practice to release tension in the hips and shoulders.

Yin asanas (postures) are generally held for 3 - 5 minutes, with counterposes and slow movements in between asanas. Longer holds target deeper layers of fascia to keep the tissues healthy and the joints mobile. Students of all experience levels are welcome to attend.

Throughout the workshop we will explore the following:

  • How to practice yin yoga

  • The benefits of yin yoga vs. the benefits of vinyasa yoga and how they compliment each other

  • Yin asanas that open the hips and shoulders

  • How to create a customized home practice

Fascia is a thin layer of tissue that wraps around every muscle in the body. When muscles are tight, the fascia surrounding the muscle begins to thicken which can lead to myofascial pain. Yoga therapy balls are effective at targeting fascia and restoring the tissues to their normal state of fluidity and mobility. When the tissues are healthy, pain and discomfort are eliminated!

This class will offer 60 minutes of deep tissue massage (with yoga therapy balls) plus gentle yin stretches. Join us to soothe sore muscles and joints, release tension, and learn to care for your body through the practice of self-massage. For an added treat, CBD topicals will be available to enhance the experience!

Have you ever wanted a Mala necklace but have not found the right one? Would you like to make your own 108 beaded necklace infused with your personal intentions and prayers? Do you want to learn more about crystals and the healing benefits they have? Are you new to meditation or are interested in deepening your meditation practice? Join us at Anchor Meditation for this fun and interactive hands-on workshop of guided meditation and crafting with Katrina Baccetti and Raquel Benson to create your own customized mala necklace. 

Mala necklaces have been used for thousands of years as a tool in meditation to set an intention and recite affirmations. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to set your intention and begin personally knotting each bead with you put for your necklace. We will bless the materials with all four elements. We will discuss the origin, history, and application of a 108 Mala Necklace. We will share our personal favorite types of crystals used for beading and the power they carry while providing tips on how to integrate Mala meditation into your daily practice. Of course, there will be time for your questions to be answered as you start to make your own mala.

ABOUT

This workshop will explore the dynamics of yoga inversions including: headstand, forearm stand, shoulder stand, and handstand. Our practice will integrate strength building exercises with short yoga sequences that prepare the body & mind to balance upside down! Students will learn fun and creative ways to build up the core & upper body strength necessary to approach these asanas with a stable foundation. Our inversion play-time will emphasize breath connection and healthy alignment. Students will go home with a deeper understanding of how they can safely integrate inversions into their own practice.

This workshop is appropriate for students of all levels. It is recommended that students who attend have at least some practice working with one of the following: headstand, forearm stand, shoulder stand, or handstand.

Join me for an afternoon of arm balance practice & play! This workshop will explore the dynamics of arm balancing and teach students how to practice these asanas with breath awareness and healthy alignment.

This workshop will integrate strength building exercises with short yoga sequences that prepare the body & mind for lift off! Students will learn fun and creative ways to build up the core & upper body strength necessary to approach these asanas with a stable foundation.

For each arm balance, we will review step-by-step breakdown of how to safely enter the arm balance— from the most basic approach to more advanced variations.
